Ma Pau drops vital points

By Ma Pau Sports Staff

Ma Pau FC missed out on a chance to narrow the gap on the leaders Defence Force, after it was held to a shock 2-2 draw by cellar-placed Police in Friday’s first match of a double-header at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

The lawmen  went ahead in the 47th minute through Kelon Williams but seven minutes later Shane ‘German’ Calderon got Ma Pau on level terms before he netted his second of the match in the 69th minute for the Woodbrook-based club to lead 2-1.

But with the seconds ticking away, Kenwin Matthews conjured up an equaliser for Police to snatch an unlikely point from the contest.

Defending champion, bmobile Joe Public joined Ma Pau on 16 points after  a 3-0 shut out of  St Ann’s Rangers at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar yesterday with two goals from Conrod Smith and one from defender, Carlyle Mitchell.

Devon Jorsling scored a brace as Defence Force stretched its winning streak to nine matches in the Digicel Pro Football League with a 3-0 triumph over Tobago United at the Plymouth Recreation Ground, yesterday.

Jorsling opened the scoring in the 32nd minute while Jerwyn “Bally” Balthazar made it 2-0 with two minutes left in the match before Jorsling added a third on the stroke of full-time with his league-leading 11th item of the season.

With the win, the “Teteron Boys’ improved to maximum 27 points, ten ahead of second placed W Connection after the “Savonetta Boys” went under to Caledonia AIA 1-0 in the second match of a double-header at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, on Friday night.

Akim Armstrong got the lone goal for the Stallions, to secure their third win of the season to climb to 12 points, the same as San Juan Jabloteh.

Jabloteh came up against FC South End in a late match last night at Marabella.
