UTILITY player Anthony Wolfe earned a share of the points for Ma Pau which held defending Digicel Pro League Champions Bmobile Joe Public to a 1-1 draw  in their opening 2010 season at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo on Friday night.

Joe Public prolific goalscorer of last season and the 2009 ‘Player of The Year’ Kerry Baptiste scored from a right-foot shot in the 13th minute, when he controlled inside the area and unleashed a low shot that beat goalkeeper Alejandro Figueroa’s out-streatched right hands for a 1-0 advantage.

However,  with less than two minutes before the half was called Ma Pau levelled the scoreline  1-1 through 2006 World Cup player Anthony Wolfe, who won out on a 50-50 challenge for the ball with goalkeeper Marvin Phillip.

Wolfe bundled the ball over Phillip after a spectacular long through ball by Elton John into the Joe Public defence.

Ma Pau dominated the second half  and had two good opportunities to take the lead but poor finishing cheated them of full points.

Ma Pau defender Coneal Thomas had an effort wide seconds before the halftime whistle and before retiring injured in the second half. He was replaced by Kemuel Rivers.

Another 2010 signing Lester Peltier wasted a clear opening in the 67th minute when he headed tamely into goalkeeper Phillip’s arms after meeting Curtis Gonzales well placed cross from the right.

Joe Public only looked dangerous when Baptiste had the ball and advanced on goal.

The match was the feature of grudge tackles with seven yellow cards dished out by Surinamese referee Enrico Wijengaarde as both sides unsettled each other.
