TWENTY-ONE year-old midfielder Devon Jamerson of Ma Pau FC has been named by Headcoach Russell Latapy in the National senior team 18-man squad to take on Chile in a friendly international next Wednesday in Iquique, Chile.
Jamerson of Arima sports the number-five shirt for Ma Pau. Despite his non-appearance in last Friday’s match against Joe Public which ended 1-1, his performnces in his team’s practice matches leading up to the opening of the 2010 Digicel Pro League, were outstanding.
The squad includes nine players who were part of the T&T’s World Cup squad which appeared in the 2010 qualifying campaign - Densill Theobald, Keon Daniel, Keston Williams, Kern Cupid, Hughton Hector, Devon Jorsling, Jan Michael Williams, Aklie Edwards and Clyde Leon.
Latapy has also selected newcomers Jovin Jones, son of ex-Strike Squad member Kelvin Jones and a member of W Connection defender; Ma Pau FC’s Jamerson, son of another ex-national Kerry Jamerson, Under-23 duo Daneil Cyrus and Andre Marchan, midfielders Kerron Cummings of W Connection and Jesse Stewart of UTT as well as W Connection strike duo Matthew Bartholomew and Shahdon Winchester, as well as Defence Force midfielder Kevon Carter completes the squad.
